Ready to join us - Junior program (6 - 9 years)
Bowen Hockey, junior programs offers girls and boys the opportunity to enjoy the basic skill of hockey, in a safe, non-competitive, family friend environment. Our club focus for kids to experience a team sport, develop fundamental motor skills, amake friends all while beginning their lifelong love of hockey. All players are grouped by age, size and ability so they can learn safely and confidently.
All junior programs coincide with the school term, aimed for boys and girls of all abilities and fitness from 6 years. Absolutely no hockey or team sport experience is necessary. Operating weekly, on Sunday afternoons at Bowen State High School from 1pm - 2pm, no travel is required, with all games and programs based in Bowen.
Program Overview
The ten week programs will focus on:
Week 1 - 5 - Fitness, fun hockey games and activities, skill development leading into the playing of a game.
Week 6 - 10 - Developing game play, positions of play, strategies for scoring and defending.
WHEN: Weekly, Sunday afternoons during school terms from 1pm-2pm from April to September.
WHERE: Covered Area, Bowen State High School, 1-9 Argyle Park rd
UNIFORM & EQUIPMENT: All new junior players registering for 2023 will receive a FREE Hockey pack comprising of: Hockey stick + ball + shin pads. Mouth guards are mandatory for all players. Hockey sticks are available to borrow. Junior players will be allocated a Bowen Hockey junior shirt for the duration of the season. Please wear this each week with black shorts/shorts/leggings.
COST: Click the Registration tab for player fees. Fees include Hockey Australia/Hockey QLD and Bowen Hockey contributions. All players must be registered to participate.
